The Frozen Hourglass

I felt the cold hit my face
As I fell to the ground
There was something so beautiful
And it snowed, it snowed on my lips
Oh so many days it did snow
My heart froze as the land became a glow

And I turned those pages over in my mind
Hoping that each one would bring a different story to life
Yet the same one played over
No matter how many times I tried
Now I question the day when your heart went away

Now I sit on my ledge
I’m a hundred feet off the ground
And from a far I watch the land
As it melts, it melts to sand
That slips through the hourglass held by your hand
All the colours now are fading
And you still can’t understand

And I turn those pages over in my mind
Hoping that each one will bring a different story to life
Yet the same one plays over no matter how many times I try
And now I question the day when your heart went away
