This year, Esther will be releasing her debut solo album “Esther Dee & the Carousel".

Carousels, roundabouts, and Merry-Go-Rounds have a long, documented history in art, stemming from the time of The Crusades – and even used as a method of combat training. Italian crusaders would call them “carosello” or “Little War.” This term was taken up in France where the word “carousel” originated.

Esther's music today weaves its own “Little War”. Her vocals oscillate from celestial highs to low tones akin to the likes of Judie Sill, Minnie Riperton and Kate Bush – all whilst maintaining a playful, childlike quality, full of secrets and mischief.

Merry-go rounds quickly turning

Quickly turning for you and me

And the whole world madly turning

Turning, turning 'til you can't see.

~ from Jaques Brel & Gay Marshall' 'Carousel'

I found a ticket on a one way street

It seemed to take me to a Colourful

A colourful carousel

I never knew that thought could simpy die

It's where the ups come down

And I have to say goodbye

There's a reflection under my feet

All the shadows that will show my fear

~ Aneza Arkas

If only she could tell the time.

She’d say how great it is to meet the moonlight.

Palm on wood she takes a chance

That she might wake the wolf

That he might find her

~ Esther Dee

Alone in  a quiet lane

Slips off her shoes, her feet remind her

Of when she waited on the rain

Walking in the rain

Like a child again

~ Esther Dee

I turn those pages over in my mind

Hoping that each one will bring a

Different story to life

Yet the same one plays over

No matter how many times I try

And now, I question the day when your

Heart went away

~  Aneza Arkas

I’m tumbling down through these holes

You’ve found in me

Walking along time’s faded line

But you’re holding on to me,

Won’t let go til we’re

Walking along time’s faded line
